ARTIST STATEMENT

I love the challenge of creating depth and space in a landscape painting, finding the right values and color temperatures. My hope is that viewers of my paintings find something of value that they can relate to and might deepen their connection to nature or be temporarily transported to another space or time in their mind.

Influencers have been: Russell Chatham, Edgar Alwyn Payne, J.M.William Turner, John F. Carlson, Chuck Mardosz and his children Kim and Paul who are both artists

My inspiration as a child came from my art teacher Mrs. West. She helped me find my creativity and appreciation of art. I have taken art classes in High School and one at Colorado State University as an elective. Recently I have been taking oil painting classes from master artist Chuck Mardosz at the Anita Marie Gallery in Colorado Springs.
